Mission Statement:
To support the Ramona Library as it strives to encourage literacy, lifelong learning, and the love of reading throughout our diverse community; to enhance the Library's resources, which will increase the community's access to information and knowledge; and provide a vibrant cultural gather place.
Founded in 1985, the Friends of the Ramona Library (FORL) are dedicated to making the Ramona Community Library the best it can be. Their hard work has gained the Friends a reputation as an enthusiastic and effective Friends groups within the San Diego County Library system.
Friends of Ramona Library own and operate an online Amazon book store and a physical store, The Open Book, located inside of the library. Funds from the store support Ramona library programs, the purchases for new books, media, and resources for the library.
FORL also recruits volunteers to work with library staff, shelving books, reading to children, assisting with literacy programs and other tasks. FORL membership is open to everyone and all are encouraged to join.
The organization is led by a board of directors and meets every other month, on 3rd Wednesdays at 1:00 pm, in the Community Room of the Library.
Friends of Ramona Library welcomes your feedback, ideas and participation.
